------------------------------------------------------------
Ya te ha arrepentido de hacer algo? Seguro que sí! En esta actividad la profesora Rita Grazina le va a enseñar a hablar de sus arrepentimientos en inglés

A) Listen to Bruno Mars song and fill in the blank spaces:

Same bed but it feels just a little bit _____ now
Our song on the radio but it don't sound the same
When our friends talk about you, all it does is just tear me down
'Cause my heart _____ a little when I hear your name
It all just sounds like ooh, ooh ooh hoo hoo
Mm, too young, too _____ to realize
That I should have bought you flowers
And held your _____
Should have given you all my hours
When I had the chance
Take you to every party 'cause all you wanted to do was dance
Now my baby's _____
But she's dancing with another man
My _____, my ego, my needs, and my selfish ways
Caused a good strong woman like you to walk out my life
Now I never, never get to clean up the mess I made, oh
And it haunts me every time I close my eyes
It all just sounds like ooh, ooh ooh ooh ooh
Mm, too young, too _____ to realize
That I should have bought you flowers
And held your _____
Should have gave* you all my hours
When I had the chance
Take you to every party 'cause all you wanted to do was dance
Now my baby's _____
But she's dancing with another man
Although it hurts
I'll be the first to say that I was wrong
Oh, I know I'm probably much too late
To try and apologize for my _____
But I just want you to know
I hope he buys you flowers
I hope he holds your _____
Give you all his hours
When he has the chance
Take you to every party
'Cause I remember how much you loved to dance
Do all the things I should have done
When I was your man
Do all the things I should have done
When I was your man

B) Pay attention to the following verb construction. What do you think it expresses? Choose the correct option.

should have bought
    1. regret
    2. hypothesis
    3. condition
    4. belief

We use should have + past participle to talk about things we regret (i.e, something we feel sorry about)
Past Participle is the form of a verb, typically ending in -ed in English, which is used in forming perfect and passive tenses. The irregular verbs don't finish in -ed.
Examples: (studied, eaten, visited, drunk, done, played)
* Bruno Mars makes a mistake in this song when he says "should have gave". "gave" is not the participle form of the verb "give", it's "given", but it's common to see grammar errors in songs due to the fact that some words fit better in the melody.
C) Now read through these regret sentences and write the correct past participle verb:

  • 1) I should have ______ (buy) more water.
  • 2) You should have _____ (listen) to me.
  • 3) I should not have ______ (forget) my passport.
  • 4) He should have ______ (wear) a tie to the restaurant.
  • 5) I should not have _______ (eat) so much.
  • 6) We should not have _______ (drive) during the storm.
  • 7) You should not have ________ (hide) your sister's phone.
  • 8) I should have _______ (do) more research.
  • 9) She should not have ________ (drink) so much wine.
  • 10) I should have _________ (write) more.
Hope you have enjoyed this lesson!
